Happy Wednesday, everyone! For your treat today: a beautiful bride and a sweet friend of mine. We did this shoot in about 1 hour flat (a record for me for bridals) because it was SO. HOT. Both seriously hot and cold weather make me work about twice as fast : ) We shot late in the evening and the light was just incredible… I’m so happy to finally share these! Enjoy!

Gorgeous cakes, Garden Gate flowers, good friends, a Baylor crowd (therefore a dancing crowd), a ridiculously cool getaway car, a beautiful Stanley Korshak dress, coordinated by DFW Events… I could go on and on. We had a BLAST at this reception at the Belo Mansion with so many wonderful people! Everything was organized perfectly, which made for a seamless day of wonderful memories for Davis and Leanne and everyone in attendance. Enjoy a sample of a few reception pictures from this past weekend! Davis and Leanne– you have to know by now how highly I think of you both … thank you for allowing me to photograph this incredibly special time in your lives. Love you both – Jess

I have yet to make a formal blog post about our wedding because I was waiting for our pictures to come in… and here they are!

Yes, Blake and I were married on May 30, 2010 – hands down the best day of our lives. So many incredible friends and family came to support us in Colorado Springs in the most beautiful place in the world, Glen Eyrie. We were blown away by the graciousness and selflessness of our friends, who traveled from far and wide to celebrate with us. The Lord’s love was evident on that beautiful, clear Colorado day in the mountains. I could not have sweeter memories in my heart of the day I became Jessica Barfield.

(I apologize for my late posting of the reception! We took SO MANY pictures!!)

As you can tell from Part I of this wedding, it was an absolutely gorgeous celebration. It was a first for Susan and me for many things– including the Hora dance, the signing of the Ketubah and the ceremony under the houppa. It was so wonderful to photograph these sacred events for this sweet couple! Thanks to everyone for making this such a memorable and FUN wedding!!

Welcoming home the troops

Every day, more than 100 soldiers pass through DFW Airport on their way home for two weeks of well-deserved rest and recuperation (R&R). As they return home from their service in Iraq and Afghanistan, volunteer greeters begin the troops’ visit on a high note. They are in need of volunteers each day to welcome home our heroes — it’s simple to do, easy to find and extremely rewarding. Click here for more information about how you can get involved.

We had the opportunity last week to participate in Welcome Home A Hero at the DFW airport, in conjunction with SLANT 45, the philanthropic initiative for this year’s Super Bowl, of which President and Mrs. Bush are honorary co-chairs. The soldiers arriving off the plane didn’t know President and Mrs. Bush would be there to greet them and their faces as they came around the corner to see the President were priceless. Anyone who comes to greet our troops will be an immense blessing to them- just a handshake, a poster or a smile will make their day. If you’re looking for a simple way to give back, this is it.
