About Jess

Hi, there – and THANK YOU for checking out my blog site during your daily web surfing time.

Admit it… you know it’s  true.

So… a few things about me…

- Graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Art History and a minor in photojournalism.

- My dad was the first one who taught me about photography- I was 12 years-old and we were at Glen Eyrie in Colorado. One of my favorite places in the world and where I am getting married in May.

- I stayed in New York City for a month when I was 17 and photographed for a mission group in NY. Thanks to Bob and Jen, I fell in love with what I do.

- I have never been trick-or-treating in my life, but I think I will let my kids one day.

- Pumpkins, I think, are one of God’s most creative and awesome creations. I feel like this all year round, FYI.

- Dr. Laura plays on my ipod when I work out.

- I only work out so I can justify sitting in the steam room afterward.

- Looking at the stars always makes me infinitely aware of how awesome and sovereign our God is.

- All of my notes from my art classes over the past four years are in my closet waiting to be re-read, which has never happened.

- My first classic black and white photography class was in Florence, Italy in the house where Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo hung for 300 years. That was my where my first interest in portraiture came about. After I figured out how to shoot a great portrait, my professor said, “One day you will make much more money than I do.”  I pray often that he was right.

- Even though I was an art history major, the only figures I can draw are made of sticks. This is a common misconception.

- I laugh out loud by myself when I watch Parks and Recreation.

- Secretly, I love my job because it helps me plan my wedding…. happening May 30, 2010- have you heard!?

- I hope I can grow into wearing hats…. right now they look weird on me.

- There are three prints in my room: a Degas, an Ansel Adams and a Greuze.

- When I was 4 years-old, I stepped on our puppy and broke its leg. Talk about a lifetime of guilt…

- I have the best friends in the whole world, and they are all OVER the world: Missouri, Hawaii, Georgia, New York…  move back to Texas, people!

- I only own four DVDs: The Office Season 3, The Proposal, What About Bob and Waiting for Guffman.

- I think that life is too short to do just one thing. I want to be 1.) A cool Colorado soccer mom, 2.) a crunchy New Mexico potter, 3.) A New York museum yuppie, 4.) a Texas horse-owner.  But right now I’m sticking with post-grad photographer and I am thrilled about it.
